Births, Marriages and Deaths
Often at times of great joy or at times of great sadness people look to the church for help with the great transitions of life and death.
We would love to talk with you about your wedding if you are recently engaged. We believe passionately in the importance of Christian marriage and, whether you would call yourself a Christian or not, we would love to help you prepare not just for one special day but for a lifelong commitment together. If you would like some help from those who’ve been married longer, you can be linked with married couples in the church.
We would also love to talk with you about the baptism of your child, or your own baptism as an adult. We see baptism as a sign of belonging and believing and of welcoming people into the family of the church. Our role in the baptism of children is one of partnership with parents. We also seek to provide support for parents in bringing up children within the Christian faith through the work of our children’s groups at St Mary’s.
Obviously the death of a loved one is very different. But we are here to help and support you through those dark days. We can help to organise and plan a funeral service. We have church members who can provide personal support through the bereavement process.

Please note: We do not keep any previous registers at St Mary’s, so if you are looking to trace your ancestors from this area, we suggest that you contact Hertford County Records Office by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by telephone on 01438 737333.
